The Snapshot: A Brief Montage

Wow.  I can't believe how quickly those two months have gone by.  Now I know what it must feel like to be a parent and stare at their reckless being of a teenager, while yearning for their younger days....or something like that.  New York has been an experience, that of learning, hardship, bravery, intensity, but mostly, a sh**-ton of fun.

Maintaing two internships (The Reformation & 100% NY for all those who weren't listening), meeting friends, and surviving in the city wasn't easy but I can say I've grown in more ways than just my sense of style.

And if New York can't break me, nothing can.

Oh Mai, I knew you shouldn't have bought that dress...

These things are brutal.

Damn, missed the hot dog eating contest...

Oh Lady Liberty, why must you be under construction?

Flatiron building, no idea why people think this is such an important monument

Ah the city lights.

Just up to no good.

What an irresistibly impractical accessory...I should have bought it, but I somehow restrained myself from wearing my love for this city.

Another angle for you.

Bryant Park, from crack dealers to magic.

New friend, Alex, in Time Square, looks like my trip has made a full circle.  How...metaphoric?

The Snapshot: It's All In The Details

I once again was sent to Midtown, right next to Times Square for some fabric errands for my Ref internship.  I got to visit Mood for the third time, it's now becoming one of my favorite places (happen to be hiring??).  My mission this time was to specify on lace and crochet trims...though I was a little distracted.  Hopefully I passed the test! :)

The Snapshot: The Reformation

The second week of my internship at the Reformation is already here, time is flying by!  After going on an errand for safety pins and proceeding to get lost, I was sent to help out at their store, conveniently on the same street that I am living.  Once there, everyone working today was nice and helpful (looks like I lucked out for once).  I mostly worked in the back room organizing merchandise... oh what a glamorous life I lead.

The Snapshot: No, I'm Not On Project Runway

Though I may not have my time in the Project Runway light yet, I will at least know the area before I take that competition by storm.  Today I had the task of collecting fabric swatches for The Reformation, the company I'm currently interning for.  While I was internally freaking out, I grabbed the list of fabrics and color palette and headed towards the Garment District.  I started at Mood fabrics (even saw Swatch, the dog!) then went around to other ones such as B&J and some janky, foreign-owned fabric shops that weren't as successful.  Don't worry, I bought a Mood "tote" bad as a souvenir, I'm sure I'll be back for a t-shirt to match!

Make It Or Break It

I have good news.  No, great news, so you better be excited.  I am officially going to the big city (understatement much?) of New York for the summer to intern with the fabulous company, The Reformation.  They ironically carry the same values as our very own Ragolution, turning ugly, crusty things into new and fabulous merchandise.  Their "new approach to fashion" is a great concept, repurposing vintage and dead stock fabric to create a current look that fits into our modern trends.  The Reformation's spring line includes plenty of chiffon, drapey silhouettes, and maxi dresses.  Here are a couple of my favorite looks from the company, feel free to check more out on their website!

I can't wait to tell you all of my crazy adventures, AKA potentially getting mugged, spending way too much money, and hopefully having some fun along the way.  So far I know almost nothing about New York, anyone willing to share any words of wisdom?  Any awesome places or things I need to add to my bucket list?
